Explain why Scouting has been important to you and why it's still important to our community and nation after 100 years:
I believe that Scouting instills in a young person essential core values and a desire to do what is right. My Scouting experience has given me a real sense of duty, duty to God, duty to others and duty to my country. Four weeks ago, I enlisted in the US Army and will ship out for basic training on Feb. 14, to Ft. Benning, Georgia. I will continue my college education while preparing to serve my country. Service to others above self as taught in the Scouting program may sound old-fashioned, but it is as important today as it was 100 years ago....and will always be.
