William Machado
Troop number and community:
Troop 28, Pawtucket
Month and year you earned your eagle:
September 2008
Describe your Eagle project:
I did a toy drive to benefit the pediatric ward at MHRI. The drive lasted two weeks, had roughly ten drop-off locations, and collected over 1,000 toys.
What are some highlights of your Scouting experience?
At Yawgoog, my troop got Point Troop (Yawgoog’s Camp Three Point weekly intra-Troop competition) three times. We went to the West Point camp-out. I've been APL, PL, ASPL, SPL, and Chaplain Aide. I earned 52 merit badges.
Explain why Scouting has been important to you and why it's still important to our community and nation after 100 years:
It has taught me skills I use all the time. Fire building, knots, first aid. I made lifelong friends. That's why Scouting is important now. You learn a lot. You get to make lots of really good friends. It gives you the chance to do things you normally wouldn't do. It gives you memories that will last a lifetime.
